Whether you’re a book club of one, two, or a group of 20+, we invite you to become a Canadian Book Club Awards Verified Reader. 

What’s a Verified Reader?

This one-of-a-kind award is driven by a community of like-minded bookworms. We’re a book award that brings inclusivity to the forefront, accessible to any published author, regardless of publisher, genre, or sales numbers. 

As Canada’s largest reader’s choice award— Canadian readers and book clubs who register become the judges for the Canadian Book Club Awards! 

We believe great books should have the opportunity to be read— and that readers should have a say in what books are the best of the year. 

How to become a CBCA Bookclub & Verified Reader:

Sign yourself, or your book club up using this form. 

You are able to select up to two genres you would like to judge. 

Once the finalists are selected in September (first week of September 2024), Verified Readers & Bookclubs will be sent a link to CBCA’s exclusive Verified Reader voting page. Readers are responsible for purchasing each title and submitting their votes by end of November, 2024.

The criteria for judging–  did I love this book?

Throughout the award season, each Verified Reader/Book Club will be entered to win gift cards and author freebies. 

By participating in these awards, you are contributing to a new frontier of book publishing and bringing more inclusivity to Canadian literature. Your participation means that all authors who have written amazing books, regardless publisher (traditional, hybrid, self) can be recognized for writing great books. 

Because not every award needs to be black-tie formal— we prefer our great books with reading socks.

*If you are an author who has submitted their book to the 2024 awards, we unfortunately cannot accept your registration to be a Verified Reader. However, we hope you consider joining as one during another award season!
