What’s a Verified Reader?
Think of it as being part of an exclusive bookish community where your opinion truly matters. We’re not your typical book award; we’re all about inclusivity, welcoming any published author regardless of their background, genre, or sales figures.
As Canada’s largest reader’s choice award, it’s you – Canadian readers and book clubs – who become the judges for The Canadian Book Club Awards!
We believe every great book deserves to be read, and who better to decide the best of the year than the readers themselves?
How to become a Canadian Book Club Awards Verified Reader:
- Simply sign yourself or your book club up using this form.
- Select a genre you’d like to judge.
- Once the finalists are announced in September (early September 2024), Verified Readers will receive a link to our exclusive Verified Reader voting page. You’ll have until the end of November 2024 to purchase each title and cast your votes based on one simple criterion: Did I love this book?

Throughout the award season, every Verified Reader will be entered to win gift cards and author goodies.
By participating, you’re contributing to a more inclusive landscape of Canadian literature, ensuring that every deserving author gets their chance to shine.
